Ana Ramirez is a seven-time Emmy award–winning visual journalist based in Southern California, with over a decade of experience in daily newspapers.

Before focusing on cross-border communities in San Diego and Tijuana at The San Diego Union-Tribune, she produced short-form documentary stories at the Austin American-Statesman.

Ramirez grew up in Tucson, Arizona, and later moved to Phoenix, where she graduated from the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication. She began her career as a writer in college before discovering a passion for photography.

Since graduating, she has worked at four daily newspapers, continuing to refine her voice as a visual journalist and storyteller.
